Well, what can I say, I'm mike, I've owned a 73 standard bug for a little over a year now and have learned to do just about everything needed to keep it on the road. It's powered by an 1835 type 1 engine currently, but I hope to upgrade to type 4 power very soon.
I have taken this car everywhere. Here it is in an abandoned ordnance plant that produced bombs during ww2. I'd bet that some of the bombs here even made it to the VW factory during the war. A bit of Irony, the car has endured.

Hi Mike and welcome to Bug-Talk! Great pic! Watch your step in that ordnance plant Although most of the posts here are type 4 related we are not strictly a type 1 forum.I personally am partial to the type 4 aswell,so converting to a type 4 is a good choice in my opinion _________________ Surgeon General´s Warning: This vehicle is equipped with a turbocharger and may cause spinal injury during acceleration.

I value all opinions, well, except the ones I don't value.
Hope I can be a useful part of this community in some way.
Looks like a good group of people. _________________ Always doing something. |

We are a small community on "this side" of the forums. The "mother forum" is the german Bug-Talk, which is the largest vw forum in Germany, if not in Europe. We are hoping to intigrate the english speaking countries to the german vw scene and exchange experiences through this forum. On may 1st we are having a dyno day for our 1200ccm type challenge motor build in Hannover at the Mai Käfer Treffen, which takes place on the expo grounds (Messe) in Hannover. So if you´re in Germany at the time swing by! _________________ Surgeon General´s Warning: This vehicle is equipped with a turbocharger and may cause spinal injury during acceleration.

Ha, I WISH. I would love to go to Germany, just couldn't afford to currently. My summer will no doubt be filled with exploring abandoned factories and climbing to the tops of buildings in cities. _________________ Always doing something. |

Sometimes. The mast for the construction elevator outside makes for a good climb when the interior isn't accessible. Sometimes it is only partial like you get to the top floor and have to climb out onto that to reach the roof etc. Always improvised, always a good time. _________________ Always doing something. |
