Greeting from Osaka, Japan!
Can some tell what exactly needs to be done to make a 914 trans usable in a bug . I know I will need a 901 nose cone or one from Marten .
Also do I need to do some thing with the diff??
Here in Japan every now and then a 914 trany pops up for sale,(descent price) 901 rarely (more expensive) and 915 hardly ever. ( around$2000US)
I would really like to install 915 with type 4 engine, but cost wise the 914`s seem the way to go.
Not having dealt with trans much is the 914 to 901 conversion something one could do them selves.??
Cheers

You will need the 901 nose cone as long as it is a "side shifter". The diff will have to be flipped over to other side.Usually you can get away with removing the gear cluster and flipping the diff to the other side.type4unleashed is the 914 expert,he can probalby say more about it than I can.The 901 is internally basically the same transmission. _________________ Surgeon General´s Warning: This vehicle is equipped with a turbocharger and may cause spinal injury during acceleration.
